What is considered an excused absence?

- The General Chemistry Program follows University Senate rules regarding what is considered an excused absence and what is not.
- Travel plans and participation in any other activities not specifically allowed by University Senate rule 5.2.4.2 are not automatically approved excuses from class or an exam. Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and receipt/documentation showing that non-refundable travel/events were booked before the start of the semester is required.
- Tier 1 (i.e. self-reported illnesses) excuses are not accepted for exams.
- Tier 2 excuses for exams are subject to verification with UHS which may require the student to sign a release form.
