“Quality of Data” points as associated with the magnitude of your percent error, accuracy, and precision, which is based, going back through all of your calculations, on the quality of the data you collected. We understand that you are learning to work in the lab, which is why “Quality of data” is usually only 1-3 points out of a possible 20 points.
The purpose for these points is to encourage students to do their best to get good data, but not so much that if something goes wrong, despite your efforts, it will not have a huge impact on your grade.
Just for advance notice, in organic chemistry, far more emphasis is placed on accuracy of your results.
